Thomas Doherty III, Salesperson
Tom was born in Philadelphia, but he has had strong ties to the Cape May area since birth. His family vacationed in the area and his grandparents owned a motel in North Wildwood. The call of the sea motivated Tom’s family to build a home and permanently move to North Cape May in 1966. Tom went to Wildwood Catholic for two years and then transferred to LCMR High School where he played football his junior and senior years. After graduation Tom joined the Merchant Marines where he worked his way up to Captain. Tom retired from the Merchant Marines in 2017 and worked on an emergency response vessel until April of 2023.
In 1982, realizing the value of real estate, Tom purchased an oversized acre of land in the Villas. Tom and his lovely wife Jacqueline, who have been married for over 30 years, built a home on the land in 1994 where they raised their three children. Their oldest, Tom IV, is a Penn State graduate and a traveling nurse. Marissa, their second child, graduated from Cape May County Special Services High School and is an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Cape May, including a past position of Secretary. Sarah is their youngest and she is a Rutgers’s graduate and is currently attending law school at Indiana University in Bloomington.
In addition to raising three dynamic children Tom has been involved in many community groups. Tom is an active member of the Cape Island Masonic Lodge, including holding the position of Past Master in 2022. Tom is also a proud member of the Crescent Shrine which is an association that raises money for Shriners Hospital of Philadelphia. Commitment to the community and his real estate clients is what motivates Tom. Please feel free to call Tom so he can assist you with all your real estate concerns, questions and needs!
